Problem:
Cathy called The Basement Doctor concerning an old farm house she and her husband owned. She explained that there was a major problem with wetness and critters getting into the farm house. She also explained that the house sits on soil that retains water as well. She owned this home for 19 years, and the walls of the home were made of stone. She was interested in waterproofing but wanted a thorough inspection. She knew these were major issues of concern. Cathy scheduled a free consultation with The Basement Doctor to assist her in finding a solution.
Solution:
The Basement Doctor sent project manager Seth Melvin out for an assessment of the farm house. Seth is a very thorough project manager who assists homeowners throughout the central Ohio area. Seth’s main objectives were to locate the issues and prescribe a solution for Cathy and Jim. After a complete assessment Seth suggested a couple of options. He suggested waterproofing and encapsulation. Waterproofing is always a great option for homeowners who have serious issues with water infiltration. Waterproofing not only seals out water but it ensures water is draining away from the home. Encapsulation is the process where a water proof vapor barrier is installed to keep moisture out, improve the air quality, and make the area a healthy and livable space. Cathy and Jim agreed to move forward with The Basement Doctor as their contractor. The Basement Doctor crew was on hand to ensure the installation was successful.
